About us

The Urban Economics Association is managed by the Urban Economics Council.

The Urban Economics Council comprises the 5 members of the Executive Committee, the chair of the program committee for the annual meeting, and one editor from each the Journal of Economic Geography, Regional Science and Urban Economics, and the Journal of Urban Economics. See the membership pages for the current composition of the council.

The Executive Committee comprises the president, the vice-president, the secretary, the treasurer and a member at-large. The ex officio journal members serve as a nominating committee for new members of the executive committee, with nominations approved by the overall council.

The Programme Committee has 3 rotating members with terms of 3 years. The programme committee members are appointed by the executive committee in close consultation with the prior year's committee. The programme committee chair will generally be chosen from members who are about to begin their 3rd year on the committee. Programme Committee Chairs become members of the Council beginning with the UEA North American meeting at the end of their 2nd year on the Programme Committee.
